MC Shine Fire and Smoke Restoration:
What to Expect

  1. A First Responder will assess the damage to your home or business. They will identify and assess affected areas. They will also take information from you, photos of the area, and discuss the scope of services.
  2. The First Responder will give a general idea of what the scope of the project will be. They will discuss any potential concerns. There will be documentation for you to sign to authorize services to begin. Due to the complexity of the situation, fire, soot, or smoke damages are not typically given an estimated cost before services begin.
  3. Once all documentation is complete, Technicians will come to your home and begin services.
  4. If you are going to make an insurance claim, you are responsible for contacting your insurance company and initiating the claim. You can tell them you hired MC Shine and give them our contact information. You must also provide your adjuster’s name, phone and email and give that to the First Responder or Sales Manager. You will not be alone, our account coordinators and First Reponsders will be with you every step of the way.

MC Shine Fire and Smoke Restoration:
Our Services

  • Services include, but are not limited to:
    • Board up of any damaged external structure
    • This can consist of doorways, window frames, etc.
  • Containment of the affected area
    • Thick plastic barriers will contain any air particles and odors into one area.
  • Equipment will be Placed
    • An Air Scrubber will be placed in the containment area, which will filter the air to remove particulates; several filters, including a charcoal filter, will be used to remove odor from the air.
  • Pack Out
    • If there is a large amount of content in the affected area, those items will be documented, packed with care, and removed from the area. This is very common in kitchens. The contents can be left at your home or business or stored at our secure facility while services are rendered.
  • Soot Removal
    • The structure of the building will be cleaned from top to bottom. This includes walls, ceilings, and floors. They will be HEPA-vacuumed to remove any debris and hand-cleaned with chemicals specific to removing soot and related odors.
    • We will schedule services to be completed; typically, this can take several days to several weeks, depending on the size of the damage.
  • Content Cleaning
    • Content may also need to be cleaned, including anything in your home that is not secured to the structure itself. Examples are dishes,
      furniture, keepsakes, etc.
    • Content can sometimes be cleaned at your home or business, and some may need to be taken off-site to our facility. This process will be discussed to determine the best course of action.
    • Content will be returned to the original placement at the completion of services.
  • Odor Removal
    • Once it has been determined to be smoke-free and soot-free, the area will need to be treated for odor. There are two different processes for
removing the odor from the air. Both will require the building to be clear of all humans and animals for 24 hours.
  • Pack Back
    • When cleaning services have been completed, any content that was removed will be put back in the original place that it was “pre-loss,” if at all
      possible.
  • Completion of Services
    • All equipment will be removed from the home or business when the services are completed.
  • Billing & Invoicing
    • Once services are completed, the invoice will be created using industry-standard pricing.
    • The invoice and supporting documentation will be submitted to your insurance company on your behalf if you are making a claim.
    • You may also pay for the services privately; invoices are due upon receipt.
